Senior Program Manager

About the role

The Senior Program Manager provides leadership and oversight for the AFGHS‑Jhpiego project across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, ensuring coordinated implementation of maternal, newborn, child health and malaria services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead field implementation management, translating work plans into schedules, deployment plans and execution timelines.
• Supervise Field Team Leaders and the Senior Program Officer, setting performance expectations and ensuring accountability.
• Coordinate readiness, logistics and subgrantee design, ensuring alignment with government priorities and donor requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify gaps or risks, and coordinate corrective actions to achieve milestones and payments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Project Management, Social Sciences or related field.
• 9‑10 years of experience overseeing multi‑region field implementation or large‑scale health programs.
• Experience working with Ministries of Health, national programs and donor‑funded projects, preferably U.S. Government‑funded.

Required skills

• Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PMD Pro) is an advantage.
• Proven ability to supervise decentralized field teams and coordinate complex implementation across multiple stakeholders.
