Underground Electrical Supervisor – Mining

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for an experienced Underground Electrical Supervisor to lead a team of electrical technicians in a mining environment. You will ensure safe, reliable operation of high‑voltage and control systems while upholding Barrick’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise electrical technicians and coordinate contractor activities.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of high‑voltage distribution, industrial control panels, and mine‑specific infrastructure.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Optimize maintenance workflows using CMMS, troubleshoot complex electrical faults, and guarantee 24/7 equipment reliability.
• Review engineering drawings, manage spare‑parts inventory, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in training junior staff and developing cross‑training programs.
• Assist with budgeting for maintenance, materials, and projects, and oversee smaller electrical projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of electrical experience on Sandvik or CAT mining equipment.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role with a proven track record.
• Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of high‑voltage distribution, industrial control, and mine‑specific systems.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and the Mines Health & Safety Act.
