Head of Procurement – Country Programme

About the role

The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement function for BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania’s country programme. This senior position is responsible for developing strategies, ensuring cost‑effective purchasing, and maintaining compliance with all policies and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals and financial targets.
• Manage the procurement department’s budget and ensure cost‑effective operations.
• Lead the preparation of periodic procurement plans in coordination with country teams.
• Oversee all procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiations, contract management and high‑value procurements.
• Implement best practices, ensure transparency, and maintain quality assurance throughout the procurement cycle.
• Identify, assess and mitigate procurement‑related risks, contributing to the country risk management framework.
• Supervise, mentor and develop the procurement team, setting performance targets and fostering an inclusive, agile work environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading procurement functions, preferably in an international development context.
• Strong ability to collaborate with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated competence in risk identification and mitigation.
• Experience in people management, including recruitment, coaching and performance management.
