Team Leader – Mechanical / Electrical

About the role

Lead frontline operations and maintenance teams in a high‑performance power‑generation environment in Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shift operation and maintenance activities for power‑generation equipment.
• Plan and supervise preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Coordinate minor and major generator maintenance, repairs and overhaul activities.
• Allocate work across multidisciplinary personnel and support effective team performance.
• Monitor generator performance, alarms and system conditions, taking corrective action when required.
• Support load control, load sharing and power optimisation.
• Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
• Monitor service‑meter‑unit readings and coordinate upcoming maintenance.
• Support commissioning and recommissioning while championing HSE compliance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Power Plant Engineering.
• 5–8 years hands‑on experience in power plant operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of medium‑speed diesel generator sets.
• 3–4 years experience in a supervisory or team‑leadership position.
• Strong experience across preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, generator overhaul and reliability improvement.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• CAT 3600 Series engine experience or Caterpillar certification.
• HFO/CFO engine and fuel‑treatment knowledge.
• Medium‑voltage generators/alternators.
• Condition monitoring.
• Commissioning and recommissioning.
• Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
• Generator overhaul and reliability improvement.
• Load control, load sharing and power optimisation.
• Troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• HSE compliance.
