Stores Lead

About the role

A client in the manufacturing industry based in Tanga is looking for an experienced Stores Lead to oversee all store operations across raw materials, finished goods, engineering spares and consumables. The role covers inventory control, accurate record keeping, material flow and coordination with procurement, production and other departments, while leading the stores team and driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee receiving, storing and issuing of raw materials, spare parts, consumables and finished goods.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and effective inventory control across all store categories.
• Implement and manage inventory control systems, procedures and cycle count practices, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Lead and supervise store personnel, allocate responsibilities, train staff and ensure adherence to store procedures.
• Coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing and replenishment, and with production and operations to keep material supply uninterrupted.
• Maintain records of inventory transactions and generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements and store performance, monitoring KPIs such as stock accuracy and turnover.
• Improve store layout, inventory systems and material handling, reduce losses and monitor store-related costs.
• Ensure safe storage and handling, a clean and compliant store environment, and develop and maintain SOPs for store activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in stores or inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience handling raw materials, finished goods and engineering spare parts.
• Strong reporting, analytical and data management skills, with excellent leadership, communication and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of inventory management systems or ERP platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Word.
