Senior Finance Officer

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer will lead day‑to‑day financial operations for African Bulk Company in Dar es Salaam. This full‑time, on‑site role ensures accurate recording, reporting and analysis of financial data while supporting strategic decision‑making across logistics, procurement and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including general ledger entries, cash‑flow monitoring and accurate transaction recording.
• Prepare, review and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and performance tracking against targets.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws, local regulations and internal control frameworks; assist internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement and logistics teams to provide financial insights, optimise costs and support strategic decisions for bulk cargo projects.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, perform timely reconciliations and monitor working capital requirements.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, manage invoicing, collections and follow‑up on overdue items.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and support growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; professional certification (CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
• Proven experience in a senior finance or accounting role, preferably within logistics, supply‑chain or related industries.
• Strong understanding of Tanzanian tax regulations, compliance requirements and internal control frameworks.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Financial reporting and statement preparation.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (advantage).
