Head of Risk Management and Compliance

About the role

The Head of Risk Management and Compliance will design, implement and enforce a robust risk management framework aligned with FINCA's Risk Appetite and the Central Bank guidelines. This senior position supports senior management in maintaining a sound risk and internal control environment and drives continuous improvement of risk culture across the subsidiary.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and promote the risk appetite framework and monitor the overall risk profile of the subsidiary.
• Analyse internal and external events, identify emerging risks and recommend preventive actions.
• Oversee enforcement of risk policies, limits and internal control tools, including AML/KYC and fraud management.
• Prepare quarterly risk reports for subsidiary‑level and Board reporting.
• Lead and mentor the Risk Management and Internal Control team, ensuring proper training and development.
• Coordinate with functional heads to evaluate third‑party and product‑related risks and support corrective action plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field; advanced degree or risk certifications preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of practical banking or micro‑finance experience, including credit, operations, audit or risk management.
• Proven experience leading virtual teams or project‑lead roles.
• Fluency in English and willingness to travel as required.
• Strong business acumen and ability to communicate risk insights to senior management.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and internal control frameworks such as COSO.
• Expertise in AML/KYC compliance and fraud management processes.
• Advanced analytical and critical‑thinking abilities to translate data into actionable risk insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for executive reporting.
