Senior Accountant

About the role

A client in the security sector, operating across the East African region, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The role oversees financial reporting, ensures compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, manages financial controls and supports the organisation's financial performance. It reports to the Finance Manager and is open only to Tanzanian nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger activities.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements and internal financial policies.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial analysis.
• Maintain financial controls, accounting procedures and documentation to ensure audit readiness.
• Liaise with auditors, regulatory authorities, banks and other stakeholders and support continuous process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• CPA(T), ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification completed or at the final stage; membership in a recognised accounting body is an added advantage.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting or a similar finance role.
• Strong experience in financial statements, tax compliance, statutory reporting, payroll processing and financial controls.
• Tanzanian nationality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• ERP system experience is an added advantage.
