Sales Executive – Logistics & Freight

About the role

Africa Global Logistics Tanzania Limited (AGL), a leading logistics and transport operator in Tanzania with 300 employees, is hiring a Sales Executive in Dar es Salaam on a fixed-term contract. The role focuses on securing business with new clients and growing existing ones, with a measurable target of a minimum of 450,000 USD gross margin per year.

Key responsibilities

• Identify new potential clients and understand their supply chains to tailor logistics solutions
• Sell AGL's full range: international freight forwarding, ICD, customs clearance, transport, warehousing, distribution and value-added services
• Size opportunities by volume and price them to secure gross margin
• Report potential opportunities through the CRM system and anticipate incoming RFQs and tenders
• Coordinate with the legal department on contractual negotiations and run implementation meetings with clients and operational teams
• Visit clients regularly, attend social events that may lead to business, and follow up on payments with the credit control team
• Hold monthly or quarterly reviews with existing customers, identify new services for them, support invoicing and dispute management, and perform other duties assigned by management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Management, Marketing or equivalent
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a track record of secured accounts
• Customer service training
• Extroverted, sociable, honest and diplomatic, with strong communication skills and a desire and ability to sell and close deals

• Good knowledge of clearing and forwarding
• Computer literacy
• Business acumen, organisation, self-motivation and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
