About the role
The People & Culture Manager leads all HR functions for the country office, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labour law and organizational policies. Acting as the primary HR advisor to senior leadership, the role shapes people strategy to support the mission’s objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management, learning & development, payroll and benefits.
- Provide strategic workforce planning and talent management advice.
- Manage employee relations, conduct investigations and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with local labour regulations, donor requirements and internal policies.
- Develop and streamline HR reports, processes and communication plans.
- Conduct new‑employee orientation, exit interviews and maintain accurate personnel files.
- Train staff and managers on HR tools, analytics and best practices.
- Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance user experience.
- Supervise and develop the country‑level People & Culture team.
Required profile
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR management and Tanzanian employment regulations.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to influence senior leadership.
- Strong leadership, staff development and coaching capabilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to interact with diverse cultures.
- Discretion in handling sensitive information and situations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
