Nordic School Director – Tanzania

About the role

The Nordic School Director will lead a preschool in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, providing strategic direction, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing finance and administration. Working closely with the Head of Education, the Director will uphold and develop the school’s Nordic pedagogical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school’s strategic plan aligned with its mission and values.
• Act as primary liaison between the Board, Trustees and school management.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, safeguarding and reporting requirements, including tax status and registration.
• Maintain internal policies, procedures and systems for HR, procurement, safeguarding and other functions.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting, income and expenditure, and establish robust financial controls.
• Lead audit follow‑up, manage issue trackers and report progress to the Board.
• Delegate operational responsibilities to the Head of Education and administrative officer while retaining overall accountability.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in early childhood or preschool settings.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks in Tanzania.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial reporting and audit processes.
• Experience working with educational boards and trustees.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
