Mine Planning Specialist – Open Pit & Underground

About the role

The Specialist – Mine Planning (Open Pit & Underground) will support the Planning Superintendents at Geita Gold Mine in delivering an integrated life‑of‑mine plan. This strategic position focuses on aligning open‑pit and underground operations to maximise value across the asset.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist input on asset option development and recommend optimal strategies to senior technical leadership.
• Assist in delivering the annual budget for the Strategic Planning Department, maintaining forecast accuracy within 5 % for the next two years.
• Integrate long‑, medium‑ and short‑term plans for open‑pit and underground mining to meet physical and ore‑blend targets.
• Monitor performance against plan, track KPIs, and conduct variance analysis and audits.
• Assess the skills and competencies of the planning team and promote cross‑functional integration between OP and UG teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mine planning for both open‑pit and underground operations.
• Strong analytical abilities with a focus on budgeting, KPI monitoring and variance analysis.
• Ability to evaluate and develop asset options and present recommendations to senior management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to foster integration between planning disciplines.
