Metallurgical Engineer – Process Plant (Engineer 1)

About the role

The Metallurgical Engineer (Engineer 1) provides technical and metallurgical support to the Process Plant at Geita Gold Mine, ensuring maximum metallurgical efficiency and optimal plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Support safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible metallurgical activities.
• Monitor and optimise performance across comminution, gravity separation, leaching, elution and related circuits.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting reports and provide data‑driven recommendations.
• Conduct sampling, plant surveys, instrument calibrations, laboratory test work, ore characterisation and geometallurgical studies.
• Monitor reagent, consumable, water quality and plant resource usage for cost control and compliance.
• Develop procedures, data sheets, support audits, inspections and training for junior staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing Engineering or Metallurgy.
• Minimum four years of hands‑on experience in mineral processing, preferably in SABC milling circuits and CIL/CIP gold processing.
• Experience in metallurgical test work, plant surveys and process optimisation.
