Head of Supply Chain / Warehouse Manager

About the role

AGL Tanzania, a leading logistics and transport operator with 300 employees and a head office in Dar es Salaam, is looking for a Head of Supply Chain (Warehouse) to manage its client portfolio in a sustainable and profitable way. The role covers five sites (Vingunguti, Chango'mbe, Mikocheni, Tegeta and Ubungo) and aims to set quality-of-service and cost-control goals while growing gross margin.

Key responsibilities

• Inform the entity's strategy and communicate required alignments
• Manage the five named sites, including yard traffic flow, cargo reception, storage, dispatching, data recording, security, maintenance and sanitation
• Ensure regular mechanical maintenance of company assets and prioritise safety above all
• Manage day-to-day outdoor and indoor operations, including checking incoming and outgoing traffic
• Implement open yard and repository policies and coordinate loading, unloading, stuffing and unstuffing with strict lifting and security follow-up
• Ensure systematic cargo inspection and immediate reporting of damage
• Supervise inventories and computerised inventory management, maintain the database and record stock movements accurately
• Manage hiring, training, development and supervision of staff in coordination with HR
• Maintain sites, equipment, material and vehicles in safe condition, control consumables such as PPE and alert management of significant operational issues
• Organise toolbox meetings, report site maintenance issues, identify risks and bottlenecks and run KPI meetings with clients

Required profile

• Post-graduate qualification (MBA, Enterprise Management, Logistics or equivalent)
• At least 10 years of experience in logistics
• At least 5 years as a manager or leader
• International experience is an added advantage
