Head of IT

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for an experienced and strategic Head of IT to lead and oversee the organization's IT operations, infrastructure, systems and technology initiatives. The role covers IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, ERP systems, cloud solutions and IT support, working closely with senior management, internal teams and external vendors to deliver scalable, cost-effective IT solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organizational goals and business needs.
• Lead and manage IT infrastructure, systems and technology operations.
• Oversee ERP systems and related business applications, and manage cloud infrastructure, networks, data storage and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Drive digitization and continuous improvement of business processes, and ensure systems are secure, reliable and scalable.
• Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures and governance frameworks, and oversee cybersecurity, data protection, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Manage IT vendors, consultants and service providers, and lead IT support functions.
• Monitor IT performance, identify risks and take corrective action; develop and manage the IT budget.
• Advise senior management on technology initiatives and lead, mentor and develop the IT team.
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and ensure compliance with IT standards, regulations and data protection laws.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field; a Master's in IT Management is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant IT experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, ERP systems and cloud technologies.
• Experience leading ERP implementation projects, especially Microsoft Dynamics, is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of IT governance, risk management, compliance and disaster recovery planning.
• Excellent written and verbal English; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-departmental environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and enterprise IT systems is an advantage.
• Certifications such as PMP, CISSP or ITIL are an advantage.
• Leadership, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
