Environmental Coordinator – Geita Gold Mine

About the role

The Environmental Coordinator supports the HME Senior Supervisor and HE Workshop Manager to ensure that the Geita Gold Mine meets all governmental, internal and insurance environmental requirements across both HME and LME areas. The role focuses on promoting safe work practices, driving compliance, and fostering environmental awareness among staff and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental inspections, audits, and communication schedules for HME and LME zones.
• Enforce compliance with legal requirements, hazardous material procedures, waste‑management strategies and environmental standards.
• Support training, toolbox meetings and technical guidance to raise environmental awareness.
• Monitor waste segregation, 5S standards, housekeeping of scrap yards, spill kits, washing ponds and hydrocarbon spill prevention controls.
• Report environmental incidents, track corrective actions and maintain performance metrics for engineering work areas.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in environmental management, preferably within mining.
• At least three years in a supervisory role overseeing up to twenty staff on shift rosters.
• Relevant qualifications such as a Trade Test certificate, Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
• Valid Tanzania driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using SAP.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment such as loaders, forklifts and tele‑handlers.
