About the role

MetroCredit Limited is seeking a Credit Risk and Compliance Officer to join its Mwanza office. The role focuses on safeguarding the company’s lending activities through rigorous credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess credit applications and evaluate borrower creditworthiness.
• Monitor credit portfolios and identify emerging risk indicators.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with local regulations.
• Stay current on relevant laws and ensure internal policies reflect regulatory requirements.
• Review client documentation and prepare risk and compliance reports for senior management.
• Support internal audits and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and customer‑service teams to promote a strong compliance culture.

Required profile

• Strong background in compliance management and regulatory compliance.
• Advanced analytical abilities for credit assessment and portfolio monitoring.
• Foundational knowledge of finance and experience in financial‑services environments.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or related field; professional risk/compliance certifications are a plus.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical lending practices.
