Chief Engineer – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

As the Chief Engineer at Riu Jambo Zanzibar, you will lead the hotel’s engineering and maintenance department, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems operate safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for maintaining high service standards while supporting the overall guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities across the property.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to extend asset life.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and RIU standards, including fire safety and health protocols.
• Lead, train and support the engineering team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Manage energy‑management initiatives to optimise consumption and reduce costs.
• Prepare budgets, reports and maintenance plans for short‑ and long‑term projects.
• Coordinate with external contractors for repairs, renovations and inspections.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or senior maintenance leader in the hospitality sector.
• Strong knowledge of local regulations and hotel standards.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
