Buyer - Procurement

About the role

TEF Consult is looking for a qualified and experienced Buyer to join its procurement team in Makota, Iringa, Tanzania. The buyer sources, negotiates and purchases goods and services in a cost-effective, timely and quality-assured way, in line with procurement policies and regulatory requirements. The role also supports supplier relationship management, logistics coordination, inventory planning and procurement reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and review purchase requisitions from departments
• Source competitive quotations from approved suppliers and evaluate them on quality, price, compliance and delivery
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and contracts, and prepare and issue purchase orders
• Track orders, verify delivery documents and coordinate goods receipt
• Maintain supplier records, identify and onboard alternative suppliers, and coordinate import/export documentation where applicable
• Monitor inventory levels, support stock counts and procurement reporting, and keep procurement records for audit and compliance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Logistics Management or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management
• Experience coordinating logistics and supplier relationships and working with multiple vendors
• Added advantage: CIPS qualification or progress toward it, knowledge of international trade regulations, inventory management and import/export experience

• Knowledge of business accounting principles
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent English communication
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience with ERP or procurement systems
• Procurement and contract management, supplier relationship management, cost analysis, negotiation and problem solving
