Business Development Manager – Steel Trade (Tanzania)

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across Tanzania’s steel market, focusing on hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized (GI) and pre‑painted (PPGI) products. The role involves identifying lucrative opportunities, building relationships, and expanding our market share in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing, and long‑term account management.
• Analyze Tanzanian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning, and demand patterns to develop localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, logistics and finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Tanzanian trade events and industry associations to enhance brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English for business communication.
• Minimum 3 years of international steel trading experience with a proven track record in import/export operations.
• Strong negotiation abilities, commercial acumen and an established network within the Tanzanian steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
