Auto Electrician – Heavy-Duty Trucks

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is hiring a full-time Auto Electrician in Dar es Salaam to diagnose, repair and maintain the electrical systems of FAW and HOWO TX trucks, tankers and trailers. The role supports preventive maintenance schedules and minimizes fleet downtime, working closely with workshop and maintenance teams while adhering to safety, quality and OEM standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in FAW and HOWO TX trucks, including wiring harness systems
• Repair and maintain ECUs, alternators, starters, batteries and charging/starting systems
• Maintain and repair lighting systems, dashboard instruments, warning indicators and control switches
• Service electrical systems for tankers and trailers
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicle electrical systems according to OEM and company schedules
• Troubleshoot ECU, ABS/EBS systems, sensors, relays, fuses and CAN bus networks
• Use diagnostic scanners and interpret wiring diagrams to identify faults
• Attend to and resolve electrical breakdowns promptly
• Follow HSE policies, safety procedures and legal requirements, using proper PPE and lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents, and take part in toolbox talks, safety audits and workshop inspections
• Complete job cards, maintenance reports and safety documentation, and coordinate with mechanics and supervisors
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions for recurring electrical issues

Required profile

• Certificate in Motor Vehicle Auto Electrical or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in auto electrical systems (heavy-duty trucks preferred)
• Proven experience with FAW and HOWO TX trucks (advantageous)
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced workshop
• Good teamwork, communication, attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems including ECUs, CAN bus, ABS/EBS and sensors
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and read wiring diagrams
• Understanding of HSE standards and workshop safety procedures
