Account Assistant

About the role

The Account Assistant will support the finance team of UniCool East Africa Company Limited in Dar es Salaam on a contract basis. Working in a hybrid arrangement, the role combines on‑site tasks with remote work to ensure smooth day‑to‑day accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and record transactions in the accounting system.
• Maintain petty‑cash registers, record cash movements and perform reconciliations.
• Assist with basic credit‑control activities, including monitoring receivables and following up on overdue payments.
• Prepare simple financial reconciliations and support routine reporting.
• File and organise financial documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely availability.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to resolve payment queries.

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Solid foundation in bookkeeping and routine accounting tasks.
• Practical knowledge of credit control and receivable monitoring.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work responsibly in a hybrid environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Excel.
• Experience using ERP or accounting software.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Tally.
• Familiarity with Zero account packages.
