UG Electrician Foreman

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Underground (UG) Electrician Foreman to lead the electrical operations at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine. The role involves overseeing the surface and underground electrical reticulation network, ensuring reliable power supply, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and control the entire surface and UG electrical reticulation network.
• Perform statutory compliance inspections, audits and tests.
• Compile reports and presentations on power consumption and supply.
• Calculate, plan and execute LOM electrical supply and demand.
• Conduct earth‑fault calculations and set HV and MV protection relays correctly.
• Fault find, repair and test AC & DC variable speed drives, VFDs and soft starters.
• Order and maintain critical spares to prevent production loss.
• Research, specify, install and commission electrical equipment for demanding mine conditions.
• Provide troubleshooting support to improve operational efficiency.
• Lead technical maintenance planning using computerized modelling and predictive maintenance systems.
• Prepare tender competitions, evaluate technical bids, supervise contractors and approve works.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to international quality standards.
• Write reports, attend meetings and maintain records in compliance with legislation and company policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising electrical maintenance in a mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and safety standards.
• Ability to lead teams, manage projects and coordinate with contractors.
• Experience planning and executing electrical supply and demand for large operations.
