Teppanyaki Specialist – Luxury Zanzibar Resort

About the role

We are looking for a Teppanyaki Specialist to join the new Iberostar Selection Zanzibar 5* resort in Muyuni, Matemwe. The role combines high‑cuisine Japanese grilling with front‑of‑house entertainment, ensuring guests enjoy a memorable dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (mise en place) by cutting meats, seafood and vegetables to high‑cuisine standards.
• Cook complex Teppanyaki dishes following standard recipes and manage griddle temperature for different foods.
• Perform skill tricks with utensils while interacting charismatically with diners throughout the cooking process.
• Maintain an immaculate teppan area before, during and after service.
• Comply strictly with food safety regulations, including temperature control and cross‑contamination prevention.
• Analyse customer survey results and define improvement actions.
• Provide direct customer service, handling questions, suggestions, complaints and compliments.
• Carry out daily inventory, weekly food orders and supervise waste management.
• Receive suppliers, check products and ensure compliance with audits.
• Monitor budget targets for revenue, costs and personnel, and follow company KPIs.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in Teppanyaki service.
• Proficiency in English.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of food preparation, production and safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
