Tax Manager – Dar es Salaam

About the role

Axia Tanzania is seeking a full‑time Tax Manager to lead tax planning, compliance and reporting activities for the firm and its clients. Based in Dar es Salaam, you will provide strategic tax guidance while ensuring strict adherence to Tanzanian tax legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute tax planning strategies to optimise the organisation’s tax position.
• Prepare, review and file corporate, personal and indirect tax returns on time.
• Monitor changes in Tanzanian tax law and advise internal teams on implications.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external advisors to resolve tax inquiries.
• Support tax audits and respond to tax authority requests.
• Advise on tax‑efficient structures for new projects and transactions.
• Maintain accurate tax records and documentation.
• Provide strategic input to business decisions based on tax considerations.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in tax consulting, management or public accounting.
• Strong expertise in tax planning, compliance and preparation.
• Solid understanding of Tanzanian tax regulations, including corporate, personal and indirect taxes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Advanced analytical, problem‑solving and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to explain complex tax matters to non‑specialists.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and professional ethics.
