Tax Accountant – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Tax Accountant will join the Finance department of Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on ensuring accurate tax compliance, reporting and accounting for corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax and transfer pricing obligations within the mining operation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review corporate income tax returns, calculations and supporting schedules.
• Manage indirect tax obligations, including VAT/GST, withholding tax and payroll‑related taxes.
• Submit tax returns, declarations and statutory reports on time.
• Perform monthly and annual tax reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain tax accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with tax provisions, deferred tax calculations and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor tax legislation changes and assess impact on mining activities.
• Support tax audits and respond to enquiries from tax authorities.
• Review contracts, invoices and transactions for tax implications.
• Assist with transfer pricing documentation and mining‑specific fiscal obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field.
• 3–5+ years of tax accounting or compliance experience, preferably in mining, oil & gas or other extractive industries.
• Professional qualification such as CPA(T), ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax legislation.
• Experience with tax reconciliations, provisions and deferred tax.
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
