Superintendent 2 – Production Operations

About the role

The Superintendent 2 – Production Operations will lead all plant production activities at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania, reporting to the Manager of Processing. The role focuses on safe, cost‑effective, and environmentally responsible gold production while managing crews and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Track critical control verifications, conduct site walk‑abouts, and participate in safety programs.
• Monitor process safety incident rates, audit readiness, fatal risk controls, injury frequency, compliance violations, and corrective‑action closure.
• Ensure compliance with statutory inspections, health‑and‑safety policies, and standards such as NEMC, ISO14001, ISO45001, IMIU, OSHAS and ICMI.
• Drive proactive risk management through behaviour‑based safety observations, near‑miss reporting, pre‑task risk assessments and inspections.
• Maintain housekeeping audit scores across crushing, milling, treatment, lay‑down and waste‑sorting facilities.
• Develop and execute annual production plans and budgets aligned with strategic objectives.
• Deliver plant performance meeting or exceeding throughput, recovery and cost targets.
• Define operating strategies for future production states and oversee metallurgical data integrity and reporting.
• Plan and schedule mill liner relining, screen and cyclone operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing plant production crews and contractors in a mining or processing environment.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations, including ISO14001 and ISO45001.
• Ability to develop and manage production budgets and annual plans.
• Experience in metallurgical data analysis and accounting systems.
