Sous Chef for 5‑Star Beach Resort in Zanzibar

About the role

The Iberostar Selection Zanzibar 5* resort is seeking a talented Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for guests. You will work in a vibrant beachfront environment, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and establish daily menus and dishes for the kitchen team.
• Design new dishes and actively participate in their preparation.
• Supervise kitchen staff, monitor performance, and identify internal talent.
• Train and support team members on procedures, systems, and technical data sheets.
• Manage staff attendance, shifts, and breaks according to occupancy forecasts.
• Collaborate on purchasing, cost control, and inventory management.
• Work with the Executive Chef to address corrective and preventive maintenance for kitchen equipment.
• Participate in hotel and team briefings, suggesting service improvements based on guest feedback.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years experience as a Sous Chef in a 4‑star hotel or higher.
• Professional vocational training in culinary arts.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong motivation, commitment, and ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent personnel management and teamwork skills.
• Solid habits regarding safety, cleanliness, and hygiene.
