Shift Supervisor - Plastic Extrusion

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a Shift Supervisor for its plastic department in Morogoro. The supervisor manages and supervises the team and sets up, operates and maintains extrusion machinery to produce high-quality products. The role covers monitoring the extrusion process, adjusting settings, meeting product specifications and carrying out routine maintenance, while keeping production efficient, quality standards and safety intact.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the team to meet production targets
• Set up and operate machinery, adjusting equipment to product specifications
• Monitor production processes and ensure product quality through regular checks
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues to minimise downtime
• Perform routine machinery maintenance
• Coordinate raw material supply with the team
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols
• Train new team members on equipment operation and maintenance

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications are a plus
• At least 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience managing a team and expertise in plastic injection moulding, rotational moulding (tanks) or pipe extrusion
• Proven ability to operate extrusion machinery and understand extrusion processes
• Familiarity with safety protocols and technical manuals, with a detail-oriented approach to quality and efficiency
• Effective communication, teamwork and physical stamina
