Tool Room Machinery Engineer

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a skilled Tool Room Machinery Engineer in Morogoro to manage, maintain and repair all machinery and equipment in the tool room. The engineer ensures that tools and machines run efficiently and stay in optimal condition to support production and maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain tool room machinery such as lathes, grinders, milling machines, CNC equipment and other precision machines.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on tool room equipment to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Manufacture, modify and repair precision tools, dies, jigs and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect and measure finished tools and parts with precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure tolerance compliance.
• Maintain a safe, organised and clean working environment in the tool room.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and maintenance teams to meet tooling and machining requirements.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and documentation of repairs, calibrations and modifications.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement in machine performance and tooling processes.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience of 3+ years in tool room operations and machining within a manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, precision machining and metalworking techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
