Senior Travel Consultant

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited in the travel and tourism industry is looking for a Senior Travel Consultant to manage complex travel arrangements for corporate clients. The role covers ticketing, reissuance, refunds and itinerary planning on international and domestic routes, and suits someone who is highly organised, service-oriented and fluent in GDS systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and execute end-to-end corporate travel bookings, including flights, accommodation, ground transportation and visa support where needed.
• Use Galileo GDS for ticket issuance, reissuance, revalidation, cancellations and refunds.
• Offer accurate fare quotes and itinerary options aligned with company travel policies and client preferences.
• Ensure bookings are cost-effective, policy-compliant and delivered on time.
• Communicate proactively with clients to confirm bookings, give travel updates and resolve changes or disruptions.
• Maintain knowledge of international and domestic travel regulations, including IATA standards and airline policies.
• Build long-term relationships with corporate clients through tailored travel solutions.
• Collaborate with finance and administrative teams on invoicing and documentation.
• Stay informed on global travel trends, GDS updates and travel advisories.

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Travel Consultant in a reputable travel agency.
• Strong understanding of airfare construction, IATA rules and airline regulations.
• Customer-focused, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional demeanour, service-oriented attitude and a sense of urgency.

Required skills

• Expert-level proficiency in Galileo GDS.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail, time management and organisation.
