Senior Community Advisor

About the role

The Senior Community Advisor will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of community engagement and social performance programmes for the Nyanzaga Gold Project. Reporting to senior project leadership, the role acts as the primary liaison with local communities, government bodies, traditional leaders and civil society organisations to safeguard the project’s social licence to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute community and stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with project objectives.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with villages, district authorities, NGOs and government institutions.
• Facilitate regular community consultations, information‑sharing forums and public participation activities.
• Design, implement and monitor community development and social investment initiatives covering livelihood, education, health, water, infrastructure and economic development.
• Identify, assess and manage community‑related risks; support Social Impact Management Plans and mitigation measures.
• Manage grievance mechanisms, ensuring timely recording, investigation and resolution of community concerns.
• Prepare stakeholder mapping, influence analyses and regular reporting on emerging issues and opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement, stakeholder relationship management and social performance within the mining or extractive sector.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian regulations, international best practices and corporate sustainability commitments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and coordinate with government agencies and development partners.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with a track record of building trust with diverse community groups.
