Project Coordinator (Consultant) – Health & Wellbeing for AGYW in Arusha

About the role

Girl Effect Tanzania is seeking an experienced individual consultant to serve as Project Coordinator for a 12‑month initiative that strengthens health, wellbeing and resilience of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in the Arusha Region. The consultant will provide day‑to‑day coordination, oversee implementation, and manage stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities across target districts, ensuring alignment with workplans, budgets and donor requirements.
• Facilitate collaboration with Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, regional health management teams, schools, community health workers and implementing partners.
• Monitor progress, produce regular reports for the Programme Lead, and address implementation challenges.
• Support community mobilisation, gender‑norm transformation and the delivery of youth‑friendly SRH and mental‑wellbeing services.
• Manage approximately 50% field travel and ensure compliance with national regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating health‑related projects or programmes in Tanzania or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health, mental wellbeing and social‑behaviour change approaches.
• Ability to work effectively with government agencies, NGOs and community structures.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Swahili is advantageous.
