Procurement Specialist (Vitamins & Minerals)

About the role

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist focused on vitamins, minerals and specialty raw materials to support our mission of fortifying staple grains across East Africa. You will ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and quality-assured supply chain for our premix blending operations in Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global sourcing of micronutrients, carriers and specialty raw materials by identifying, qualifying, negotiating with and managing strategic suppliers.
• Translate production forecasts into procurement plans that maintain optimal inventory levels and uninterrupted supply to blending facilities.
• Oversee supplier qualification, technical documentation, laboratory verification and food-safety compliance to guarantee raw-material quality.
• Negotiate agreements and optimise total landed cost through market analysis, freight planning and sourcing strategies.
• Coordinate international shipment readiness, import compliance and documentation to ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance, market trends and pricing, implementing risk-mitigation actions.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts and supplier data in ERP systems and provide regular reporting.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain and external partners to resolve issues and improve processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of international procurement experience for food-grade ingredients, specifically vitamins, minerals, carriers or specialty raw materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field; food science or nutrition background is a plus.
• Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSP, PSPTB) preferred.
• Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation abilities.
