Payment Channel Supervisor

About the role

Palmpay, a pan‑African fintech, is looking for a proactive Payment Channel Supervisor to lead the daily operations of its multiple payment channels, including mobile money, bank transfers, POS and online gateways. The role ensures smooth transaction processing, regulatory compliance and a high‑quality customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor payment channel activities to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Oversee transaction processing, reconciliation and settlement across multiple payment platforms.
• Ensure timely resolution of payment‑related issues and escalations.
• Enforce adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies and industry standards.
• Monitor fraud risks, implement preventive measures and conduct regular audits.
• Manage and mentor payment operations staff; assign tasks, monitor performance and provide training.
• Liaise with banks, mobile money operators and payment service providers; collaborate with IT, finance and customer service teams.
• Provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
• Identify gaps in payment systems, recommend enhancements and drive automation initiatives.
• Ensure scalability and reliability of the payment infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in payment operations, banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of payment systems such as mobile money, card payments and online gateways.
• Familiarity with compliance standards (AML, KYC, PCI DSS).
• Analytical thinking and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
• Effective decision‑making under pressure.
• Customer‑centric mindset with a focus on service quality.
• Adaptability to evolving financial technologies.
