Nordic School Director – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Nordic School Director will provide strategic leadership for a pre‑school in Dar es Salaam, guiding its development, governance and financial sustainability while upholding Nordic educational values. Reporting to the Board and Trustees, the Director works closely with the Head of Education and administrative staff to ensure operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school’s strategic plan aligned with its mission, values and long‑term goals.
• Act as the primary liaison between the Board, Trustees and school management, ensuring transparent governance.
• Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, safeguarding, tax and registration requirements.
• Oversee budgeting, financial controls, reporting and procurement processes, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
• Collaborate with the Head of Education to align pedagogical leadership with Nordic standards.
• Strengthen administrative, financial and compliance structures in partnership with the administrative officer.
• Monitor and report on governance actions, audit recommendations and compliance findings.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in early childhood or school settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Boards, Trustees and regulatory authorities.
• Strong understanding of governance, financial management and compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with Nordic educational philosophies and values.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
