Mechanical/Electrical Supervisor – Power Generation

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Supervisor to lead the day‑to‑day maintenance of large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets and associated plant equipment at a power‑generation site in Tanzania. The role is fully site‑based, operating on a 12‑hour shift schedule with a 9‑weeks‑on / 3‑weeks‑off rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the multidisciplinary maintenance team on a daily basis.
• Oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes for generator sets and plant equipment.
• Supervise minor and major generator repairs, overhauls and associated mechanical/electrical work.
• Monitor generator performance, alarms, faults and operating conditions.
• Support load control, equipment optimisation and maintenance planning activities.
• Conduct fault‑finding, root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement projects.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and rotating‑equipment technicians.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Required profile

• 5–8+ years hands‑on experience with large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets.
• Proven experience with HFO/CFO engines and related systems.
• Strong mechanical or electrical power‑generation background; dual‑skill experience is an advantage.
• Previous supervisory experience of multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
• Relevant engineering degree preferred, though extensive time‑served experience is acceptable.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator maintenance.
• HFO/CFO engine operation and troubleshooting.
• CAT 3600 Series engine knowledge (advantageous).
• MV generators and alternator maintenance.
• Use of CMMS platforms such as Maximo.
• Root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement techniques.
• Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance planning.
