Legal Counsel – Corporate & Transactional Law

About the role

The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal services to the National Bank of Commerce Limited (NBC) and its investments. Working closely with the Head of Legal, the role focuses on managing legal risk, supporting business units, and delivering pragmatic, commercially‑balanced advice across the bank’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Legal in identifying, assessing and mitigating legal risks across all business lines.
• Develop and maintain legal risk control frameworks, policies and procedures in line with regulatory and governance standards.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the banking sector and report implications.
• Manage the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and renewing commercial agreements, leases and vendor contracts.
• Create, review and update standard legal documentation to ensure consistent risk management.
• Oversee relationships with external counsel, monitoring performance and costs.
• Provide legal support for new projects, systems, procedures and product launches.

Required profile

• Law degree with relevant professional qualification.
• Significant experience in banking or financial services legal environments.
• Proven ability to work as a trusted advisor to business units.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to regulatory detail.
