Laboratory Manager

About the role

MSA Laboratories (T) Limited, a leading provider of geochemical and mineral analytical services in Tanzania, is looking for a results‑driven Laboratory Manager to lead its laboratory operations. The role combines operational leadership, quality oversight and client relationship management to ensure the delivery of high‑quality analytical results.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for day‑to‑day laboratory activities, planning and coordinating work to meet production targets and turnaround times.
• Monitor workflow, sample volumes and performance metrics, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Identify and drive opportunities for efficiency, productivity gains and cost optimisation.
• Ensure availability, maintenance, calibration and replacement of laboratory equipment and consumables.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Laboratory Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with SOPs, accreditation standards and internal/external audits.
• Oversee QA/QC programmes, investigate non‑conformances and approve analytical data and reports.
• Provide technical guidance to coordinators, analysts and operators, keeping methods aligned with industry developments and client needs.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing a laboratory environment, preferably in analytical or geochemical services.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems and accreditation requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage resources and maintain client relationships.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Required skills

• Laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Implementation and oversight of quality management systems.
• Knowledge of standard operating procedures and analytical methods.
