Inventory & Asset Controller

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a detail-oriented, organized and control-focused Inventory & Asset Controller based in Dar es Salaam. The role covers accurate management, tracking and accountability of inventory, materials, tools, equipment and company assets across construction sites and head office operations, with all transactions recorded in the Odoo ERP system.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and verify incoming materials, tools and equipment against approved purchase orders and goods received notes.
• Record receipts, stock movements, transfers and issues in the Odoo ERP system and monitor daily transactions.
• Prepare daily inventory movement reports and weekly site stock reports, plus monthly inventory reconciliation and asset movement reports.
• Investigate discrepancies, negative stock balances and unusual movements, and report suspected stock loss or misuse to the Finance Manager.
• Maintain an asset register covering equipment, tools and machinery, and carry out periodic physical verification of inventory and assets.
• Track asset repairs, maintenance, transfers and disposal, and enforce control procedures by stopping undocumented stock movements.
• Support internal and external audits and help improve inventory and asset management processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in inventory control, asset management, stock management or a related role.
• Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing or project-based environments is an added advantage.
• Good communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a high level of integrity.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably Odoo ERP or similar inventory management systems.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, stock reconciliation, asset tracking and documentation controls.
• Ability to interpret inventory reports and identify discrepancies.
• Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews and inventory verification is an added advantage.
