Internal Audit Manager

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager will lead audit assignments for NBC, Tanzania's oldest bank, ensuring compliance with audit methodology, quality standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves close collaboration with business units to identify, assess and mitigate risks.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing, focusing on key risks with minimal supervision.
• Develop and maintain relationships with audit contacts and business stakeholders, facilitating open discussion of risk.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior auditors, sharing best practices and technical assistance.
• Document audit workpapers in Audit Bond, evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, and ensure timely issuance of audit reports.
• Support data analytics and automation initiatives, performing issue validation testing and contributing to management information reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) and a university degree; CIA certification is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of internal or external audit experience in a major financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of risk‑based auditing, regulatory frameworks (FIC, KYC, AML, sanctions) and key high‑risk areas such as credit risk, cyber security or treasury.
