Import Supervisor

About the role

The Import Supervisor will lead the end‑to‑end import process, ensuring that goods move smoothly from supplier to warehouse while complying with all regulatory requirements. This position works closely with procurement, finance, warehouse and logistics teams to guarantee timely delivery and cost‑effective handling of imported merchandise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the full import cycle, from order placement through final delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers, clearing agents, shipping lines, freight forwarders and government authorities.
• Prepare, verify and maintain import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, permits and customs forms.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, company policies and applicable laws.
• Monitor shipment schedules, customs clearance status and delivery timelines.
• Track import costs, duties, taxes, freight charges and related expenses.
• Resolve shipment delays, documentation discrepancies and customs‑related issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all import transactions.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse and Logistics teams for seamless flow of goods.
• Supervise and support the import team to achieve high performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience in import operations.
• Strong knowledge of import procedures, customs clearance, shipping documentation and international trade processes.
• Experience working with clearing and forwarding agents.
• Good understanding of import duties, taxes, permits and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent negotiation, coordination, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet shipment deadlines.
