Human Resources Officer

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a Human Resources Officer in Dar es Salaam to oversee and manage all HR functions. The role covers recruitment, employee management, compliance with Tanzanian labor laws, and the development of a productive, disciplined and professional workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Manage recruitment, interviews, selection and onboarding; prepare employment contracts, job descriptions and personnel files.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, conduct and performance; handle disciplinary procedures, grievances and conflicts; run performance appraisals.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labor laws, maintain employee records, contracts, leave and disciplinary files, and support employment disputes and labor inspections.
• Coordinate monthly payroll, leave and benefits, and statutory contributions with the Finance Department.
• Handle HR records for drivers, truck assistants, mechanics, warehouse staff and office employees, monitor driver licenses and training, and support transport route planning.
• Develop HR policies, staff handbooks and procedures, and prepare monthly HR reports on headcount, attendance, recruitment, turnover, discipline and training.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in transport, logistics, energy or a similar operational business.
• Good knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws and employment practices.
• Experience in recruitment, payroll coordination, employee relations and performance management.
• Professional communication skills in English and Swahili.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and HR management systems.
