Human Resource Manager

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a Human Resource Manager in Dar es Salaam to lead and manage all HR functions within its transportation company. The role ensures the attraction, development and retention of a skilled workforce while staying compliant with labor laws, transport regulations and health and safety standards, and works with senior management to align HR strategy with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training and employee relations
• Develop and implement HR strategies, policies and procedures aligned with company goals and transport industry requirements
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, transport regulations, occupational health and safety standards and internal policies
• Manage recruitment of drivers, mechanics, fleet supervisors, operations staff and support functions
• Oversee employee relations, disciplinary actions, grievances and dispute resolution in line with legal requirements
• Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, licenses, certifications and statutory documentation
• Drive training and development, including driver safety, compliance, leadership development and skills enhancement
• Lead performance appraisals and support department heads with talent development and succession planning
• Oversee payroll inputs, leave administration, attendance and shift management coordination
• Promote a safety, compliance and performance-driven culture
• Provide HR reports, workforce analytics and strategic advice to senior management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field
• Master's degree or professional HR certification is an added advantage
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in transportation, logistics or operations-driven industries
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism
