HSE Officer - Cosmetic Manufacturing

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited, a leading cosmetic manufacturing company, is looking for an HSE Officer in Dar es Salaam. The post manages, develops, maintains and coordinates an intensive programme of environmental, sustainable development and community activities, and is accountable for the company's environmental operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a professional, safe and motivating work environment and ensure employees receive the required safety training and PPE
• Create environmental working procedures, share them with management and ensure they are followed
• Liaise with government agencies on environmental matters and keep the company up to date on new laws
• Follow up on OSHA, NEMC, FIRE and City Council compliance and plan and schedule related training
• Oversee the ETP system: schedule cleaning and water testing, resolve malfunctions and carry out preventive maintenance
• Oversee the fire hydrant system: daily checks, training, servicing of the foam tank and preventive maintenance
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and report emergencies to directors immediately
• Handle company penalties or fines arising from negligence or failure to perform duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in HSE roles within manufacturing or industrial environments
• Certification in First Aid, Fire Safety or related HSE programmes is an added advantage

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of OSHA, NEMC and other environmental and safety regulations
• Proven ability to conduct safety training and run compliance programmes
• Excellent communication, reporting and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and risk identification
