HR Manager - Manufacturing

About the role

A well-established manufacturing and packaging company, represented by its client Shugulika Africa Limited, is looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead the human resources function at its facility in Tanzania. The role covers compliance, recruitment, performance management and employee relations, with a focus on factory and support staff.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labor laws, NSSF, WCF, OSHA and other statutory requirements
• Maintain accurate employee records, contracts and HR documentation
• Liaise with government authorities and legal advisors on labor matters
• Manage end-to-end recruitment for factory and staff roles, and run onboarding and induction programs
• Design and implement KRA and KPI frameworks for factory and support staff
• Lead performance appraisals, identify performance gaps and recommend training or corrective actions
• Handle grievances, disciplinary issues and conflict resolution fairly and promptly
• Foster a positive work culture through engagement initiatives and open communication
• Run training needs assessments and coordinate skill development and safety and operational training
• Coordinate with finance for payroll, and manage leave, attendance and employee benefits
• Prepare monthly HR reports, headcount summaries and attrition analysis

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment in Tanzania
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws and statutory compliance
• Proven experience in KRA/KPI development and performance assessment
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict-resolution skills; able to work independently and manage several priorities
