HR Manager

About the role

A leading player in the logistics and transportation industry, represented by its client, is looking for an experienced HR Manager to be based at its Head Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Reporting to the CEO, the HR Manager aligns people strategies with business objectives and oversees recruitment, employee engagement, training and development, statutory compliance, payroll coordination and policy implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute recruitment in line with department manpower needs.
• Standardize and update HR documentation such as offer letters, contracts, job descriptions and exit forms.
• Maintain accurate employee master data, including ID cards, contracts, medicals, NSSF and staff records.
• Lead onboarding and induction of new employees.
• Oversee performance management and appraisals across departments.
• Prepare monthly HR reports on headcount, attrition, absenteeism and disciplinary matters.
• Handle employee grievances, conflict resolution and disciplinary actions with management.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and inform management of regulatory changes.
• Coordinate payroll inputs with the Accounts team, including attendance, leave and deductions.
• Organize employee training, safety workshops and development sessions with department heads.
• Promote company culture, employee welfare and retention through engagement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration; Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws and statutory compliance.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Proficiency in HRMIS software.
