Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for a skilled Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner. You will work closely with the heavy mobile equipment supervisor to ensure equipment availability and support production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on heavy mobile equipment.
• Carry out equipment isolation, pre‑start checks, and inspections in accordance with safety, height‑work and confined‑space procedures.
• Remove and replace engines, transmissions, torque converters, final drives, differentials, hydraulic pumps and other components.
• Execute mobile and plant equipment upgrades/modifications as required.
• Document work, provide timely feedback on equipment condition, and keep the workshop clean and organized.
• Participate in training activities and on‑the‑job skill development.

Required profile

• Proven experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment in an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong adherence to safety policies, PPE usage, and occupational health standards.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, job sheets and maintenance procedures.
• Effective communication with supervisors and stakeholders regarding equipment status.
