Head of Business Development – Tanzania

About the role

Plan International Tanzania is seeking a senior business development professional to lead its resource mobilisation strategy. The Head of Business Development will drive diversified funding, build strategic partnerships, and position the organisation as a preferred partner in the humanitarian and development sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a forward‑looking resource mobilisation strategy aligned with the Country Strategy.
• Drive funding diversification across institutional donors, multilateral agencies, foundations, private sector partners and innovative finance mechanisms.
• Lead donor intelligence, market analysis and opportunity identification, building a strong funding pipeline and forecasting system.
• Provide strategic advice to the Country Leadership Team on funding opportunities, risks and investment decisions.
• Position Plan International Tanzania as a leading partner in gender equality, girls’ rights and youth empowerment.
• Develop and maintain high‑value relationships with donors, government stakeholders, private sector partners, NGOs and national offices.
• Lead consortium development and strategic partnership building.
• Strengthen organisational capacity for donor engagement, stewardship and relationship management.
• Represent the organisation externally and promote its mission and values.
• Lead the development and submission of high‑quality, competitive funding proposals and coordinate cross‑functional proposal teams.
