Head of Accounts

About the role

A manufacturing company, represented by its client, is looking for a highly experienced and qualified Head of Accounts to lead its accounting department. The role calls for strong leadership skills and ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. The position is based in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Prepare, review and finalise financial statements and management reports, and report accurately to the directors.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting and financial planning.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and manage tax planning and compliance, including VAT, corporate tax and other statutory filings.
• Implement internal controls to protect company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, and supervise daily functions such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with other departments so that financial data aligns with company goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA/ACCA certification is an added advantage.
• At least 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzania's financial regulations, tax laws and audit processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
